Crispy Ghee Dosa Recipe – Golden & Aromatic South Indian Delight



Ghee Dosa is a crispy, golden dosa drizzled with fragrant ghee that melts in your mouth. A favorite across South India, it’s lighter than masala dosa but rich in flavor. Paired with coconut chutney and sambar, ghee dosa makes for a comforting breakfast or dinner.





📜 Recipe

Ingredients:

For Dosa Batter:

  • Raw rice – 2 cups

  • Urad dal (black gram) –1 cup

  • Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp

  • cooked rice - 1/2 cup

  • Poha (flattened rice) – 2 tbsp

  • Salt – to taste

 Prepare the Batter

  1. Wash and soak rice, urad dal, fenugreek seeds, and poha for 6 hours.

  2. added cood rice

  3. Grind into a smooth batter with water.

  4. Ferment overnight (8–10 hours). Add salt before making dosa.


to make dosa 
  • Dosa batter – 2 cups (fermented)

  • Ghee – 2 to 3 tbsp (as needed)

  • Salt – if not already added to batter

Preparation:

  1. Heat a dosa tawa (cast iron preferred) until hot.

  2. Pour a ladleful of dosa batter and spread into a thin circle.

  3. Drizzle 1 tsp ghee around edges and on top.

  4. Cook until the dosa turns crisp and golden.

  5. Fold and serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
