Ingredients:

  • Fresh grated coconut – 1 cup

  • Green chilies – 2

  • Ginger – ½ inch piece

  • Roasted chana dal (pottukadala) – 2 tbsp (optional)

  • Salt – as required

  • Water – as required

For Tempering (Tadka):

  • Coconut oil – 1 tsp

  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp

  • Curry leaves – few

  • Dry red chili – 1

Preparation:

  1. Grind coconut, green chilies, ginger, roasted chana dal, and salt with enough water to make a smooth paste.

  2. Transfer to a bowl.

  3. Heat coconut oil, splutter mustard seeds, add dry red chili and curry leaves.

  4. Pour this tempering over the chutney and mix well.

  5. Serve with hot dosa, idli, or vada.
